Mentoring Program


The USUCGER Research Committee is sponsoring an informal mentoring program in which both experienced and new faculty volunteer to be listed in the USUCGER web site. The idea is for the new faculty to search the web page for possible matches among the experienced faculty and contact them directly. However, new faculty will also be listed on the web site, to allow the experienced faculty or other new faculty to initiate the exchange.

The goal of the mentoring program is to increase the interaction among the established faculty and the new faculty from different universities across the Unites States. In addition, during our meeting at the USUCGER workshop, we observed that many colleagues are the only ones in geotechnical engineering at their institutions. We hope the mentoring program can help them feel less isolated from the geotechnical community. For this reason, we would like to encourage dialogue and exchange among the new, untenured faculty, as well as between tenured and untenured faculty.
